Why Serve at The Well of Mercy?

The community is a vital part of The Well’s mission to provide a safe home where parents and children can find safety, heal, and thrive. A community in service is an impactful experience for all involved.

Fostering a safe environment for children and supporting parents at the hardest time of their lives is deeply fulfilling. Through the dedicated work of staff and volunteers, The Well offers parents shelter, educational opportunities, emotional support, and spiritual guidance to build a poverty-free future for their families.

How Can You Get Involved?

It takes a village to run The Well smoothly to continue growing our mission, with each member in the community serving from their strengths.

We are located on the north side of Chicago and primarily rely on local Illinois volunteers.

There are many volunteer opportunities available through The Well and we ask that volunteers make at least a 6-month commitment, in order to maintain an environment of continuity and trust. Along with filling out an application, signing the confidentiality agreement, and having a recent TB test, volunteers over 18 may be required to have a background test.

Make A Lasting Impact

Through generous donations and time, our families are enjoying the benefits of a safe play structure in the backyard.

We’re grateful for dedicated community supporters that volunteered their time so the children can get more fresh air and exercise at home.

Local Volunteering Opportunities

We are blessed with supporters like the high school students from The Queen of All Saints Youth Ministry Program.

They disinfected all the toys, cleaned several rooms, and tidied up around the house, and as you can see, did a great job! We appreciate our volunteers and supportive community so much.
